
Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) Vocational School, First Aid and Emergency Program, in collaboration with the Gaziantep Provincial Health Directorate Emergency Health Services Presidency, organized a program on “Paramedics in Natural Disasters and War Situations,” which was held with intense participation.
The program, held at the HKU Congress and Culture Center, was attended by HKU Vice President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Kezban Bayramlar, Vocational School Director Instructor İbrahim Bilir, faculty members, and students.
In his opening speech, HKU Vice President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola stated: “I believe that in this event, which we organized to adopt paramedics as role models and emphasize their roles, everyone will once again understand how important they are in health and society.”
Expressing his gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the program, HKU Vocational School Director Instructor İbrahim Bilir said, “By choosing this profession, you have decided to be there for people in their most difficult moments. Today, in this event where knowledge and experience sharing will be done with natural disasters, war, and mass incidents, we wanted to emphasize your importance for public health once again with the sacrifices and extraordinary efforts you will show.”
Following the opening speeches, Paramedic Meryem Tekin, the Gaziantep Provincial Ambulance Service Training Unit Responsible, delivered a speech on “Who is a Paramedic?” and conducted a field simulation. In the program, Paramedic Mehmet Avcı, the Gaziantep Provincial Health Services Unit Specialist in Disasters, gave a conference on “Being a Paramedic in Natural Disaster Situations,” and Paramedic Mecit Demir, a 112-UMKE personnel, spoke on “Being a Paramedic in War and Mass Incident Situations.
