
Organized by Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) and highly attended, the program themed ‘The Trace of 100 Teachers of the Republic’ was held in honor of November 24th, Teachers’ Day, featuring enthusiastic and emotional moments.
Coordinated by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Şener Büyüköztürk, the program took place at the HKU Congress and Culture Center and was attended by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, Deputy Director of Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of National Education Vasıf Munis, educational administrators, faculty members, teachers, and students.
REMEMBERING MARTYR TEACHERS
The program, which began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, continued with the oratorio titled ‘The Trace of 100 Teachers of the Republic,’ prepared by Dr. Res. Asst. Sakine Hakkoymaz from the HKU Faculty of Education’s Department of Primary School Teaching and Orchestra Conductor Gökhan Aktaş. The event paid tribute to martyr teachers, including Aybüke Yalçın, Necmettin Yılmaz, and Ayşenur Alkan, expressing gratitude and appreciation.
WORKING TO EDUCATE EQUIPPED TEACHERS
Expressing gratitude to the Faculty of Education for their efforts in training qualified teachers and organizing the program, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli stated: “Our teachers, who touch our lives with patience, compassion, and dedication, are not only the guarantors of individuals but also the most important assurance of our Republic. Our teachers, who touch our lives with knowledge, experience, wisdom, and intellect, are our heroes who teach us to read, understand what we read, discover ourselves, and the world. As a university, we are working decisively to always be with our teachers, develop their visions, and train equipped teachers for the future. We believe that the young minds growing under the guidance of our teachers will be the leaders of tomorrow.”
Expressing that the program involved intensive efforts, Vasıf Munis, Deputy Director of the Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of National Education, thanked everyone involved in preparing the program. Munis also stated: “Our martyr teachers cannot be with us anymore, but in this hall, all our young teacher candidates have already taken over the flag. It makes me proud to see the determination to carry this flag, this excitement, forward.”
Prof. Dr. Şener Büyüköztürk, Dean of the Faculty of Education at HKU, mentioned that teaching is a profession of love and expressed pride in working to train competent teachers who run to duty all over Turkey, where our flag flies.
PANEL RECEIVES INTENSE INTEREST
Under the theme ‘The Trace of 100 Teachers of the Republic,’ the program featured a conference titled ‘The Republic Teacher Who Nurtures Hopes’ by Retired Biology Teacher Recep Kayıran. Following the conference, a panel moderated by Prof. Dr. Şener Büyüköztürk took place, where Classroom Teacher Şevval Güçyetmez, Preschool Teacher Emira Dinç, and Psychological Counselor and Guidance Teacher Canan Çolak participated as panelists. The panelists shared information and experiences about their teaching and professional lives, and the students followed their presentations with great admiration.
The program concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation and a group photo.
