Within the scope of the celebrations of the 99th Anniversary of the Liberation of Gaziantep from the Enemy Occupation on December 25, the “25 December Liberation Run” was held at the HKU Campus in cooperation with Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) and Gaziantep Youth Services and Sports Department.
In memory of the 99th anniversary of the liberation of the city from enemy occupation, the “Liberation Run” was held at HKU Campus. The program started with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem. Before the race, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli by stating the meaning and importance of the day; “We need to think of Şehit Kamil, Şahin Bey, Karayılan and 6317 heroes at every step of the run and thank them. “If we can run here today, we must never forget that it is thanks to them.” After the opening speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Youth Services and Sports Department Head Zekeriya Efiloğlu gave the signal to start the run. In the run that started quickly, the competitors sweated to complete the course.
The pandemic conditions were respected at every stage of the running program. Competitors, who participated in the run on the 1500-meter track created on the HKU Campus, made great efforts to get the place. Competitors who ranked in the top three at the end of the race were rewarded with a trophy, and gifts were given to all competitors who participated in the race.
